Walking down a very long tarred road with tress on both side of the road, its a typical town with good vegetation and spacing, different trees grow all around the tarred road, cashew to mango with their leaves all littering the beautiful tarred road in fact the only tarred road in the town. The road stretches from the main expressway that links from Auchi to Agenebode.
Iraokhor is a very cozy small town in the northern part of Edo state,in Etsako central Local government area of the state, a subregion of the Etsako land that transverse from Auchi to Agenebode. Its shares boundaries with Ogbona and Ayogwiri on both sides.
Iraokhor has only one primary school and just two years ago the government opened a secondary school with just the junior secondary section running. Most children from Iraokhor attend Ogbona secondary school or travel as far as Fugar for secondary education.
Schooling in Iraokhor was secondary as pupils have to go to the farm in the morning before strolling into school by 9am. Students usually arrive at school with their palm wine tapping bicycle and a lot of their hunting weapons
Majority of people in the town are famers and a handful lots are hunters. The few ones who have little education end up working at the local government at Fugar.
Iraokhor is a predominantly Christian dominated area with a handful of Muslims. There are three churches, a mosque, a gas station and one private school, St Monica.
Now, iraokhor is blessed with a lot of pretty ladies as most of Edo state, from light skinned to the chocolatey looking ones to the outrightly dark ones. Whatever your variety is, you are sure to meet your taste here.
Cultism is a rampant features amongst the young boys in Iraokhor, maybe due to its closeness to Auchi Polythecnic or the notoriously acclaimed Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma. The young boys also have an awkward fashion sense but hey, in the land of the blind, the one eyed man is made king.
Partying is another habit rampant among the young ones in this town with every sunday dedicated to different parties after the weekly age group meetings and contributions.
Polygamy is also a very popular habit among the older generations with about 70 percent of men above 40 having two wives and above. The parent have a kind of carefree attitude to the upbringing of their children and most kids tend to start fending to himself early enough in his life with the money made from either selling his farm produce or selling the gains from his hunting exposition.
Pounded yam and Groundnut soup is the favorite iraokhor meal with either bush fowl, rabbit, deer or pork meat and grasscutter . every meal is stepped down with a calabash of freshly tapped palm wine drink.
Life in Iraokhor is a very easy and cheap one with nature blessing the town with all she need to be great and beautiful.
